(10) Ma'alefa'ak- Bringer of H'ronmeer's plague.

Ma'alefa'ak is the brother of J'onn J'onzz the Martian Manhunter. Ma'alefa'ak is majorly responsible for the near extinction of the Martian race. He did this by creating a psych plague that burn away any Martian that tried to connect with  "The Great One" or the mind of the planet. This is called H'ronmeer's curse or plague. This plague killed all but a few Martian. J'onn, Ma'alefa'ak, and B'arzz O'oomm (Green Beetle). The only reason that J'onn survived is because he and his brother share a almost non-existent portion of each others mind. Through this J'onn escaped to earth but was followed by his brother who was hell bent on ending the last of the Martians to be the only Martian. He attempt many times to kill J'onn and is foiled by various heroes including J'onn himself. Throughout the times we see him we can infer that he is highly intelligent and very narcissistic and has a fiery passion (pun intended) to be the best. He is also responsible for J'onn's terrible fear of fire which is one of his very few weaknesses.

Reverse Flash- Opposing speeds. (9)

The Reverse Flash is the Arch enemy of The Flash (Shocker). Specifically we are going to focus on the Reverse Flash named Eobard Thawne. Eobard Thawn is a man who found a time capsule in the future containing the Flash's suit absolutely surging with speed force energy. He takes the suit changes the colors and added a tachyon device to speed himself up.

Eobard then uses the newly acquired power of the speed force to commit crimes from all sides of the spectrum.  He is stopped when the flash goes to the future to find his suit and an atomic bomb that travels with it. After stopping Thawne and the bomb the flash takes his suit and goes back to his time. Thawne then dedicates his life to getting his revenge on the flash which he manages to do after recreating the experiment that created the flash and then traveling back to the flashes time to wreak havoc. Eobard shows a narcissistic need to be the better Flash which is why when he travels back to the Flash's time he takes the name Reverse Flash. The Reverse Flash is also responsible for creating the Black Flash and is partially responsible for the creation of several flash family members.

Circe- Rival of Wonder Woman and all man kind. (8)

Circe is Wonder Woman's most known and prominent nemesis. Appearing in more than half of her comics if nothing more than a brief cameo. Circe her self is an all powerful sorceress from Greek myth that was re-purposed into a super villain. She is often seen in the comics trying to change some large portion of something (city, state, cont.) into beastiamorphs. She is hell bent on getting revenge on men specifically as well as a select group of people who get in her way. Circe in the comics has a weird but unique back story. She is the Daughter of two titans and a former princess/ sorceress of colchis. She was driven from colchis for her "black magic" and eventually wound up on an island not unlike themiscyra  where she and a group of sirens lured men to the island and perfected her beastiamorph alteration power as well as her other powers. Eventually she decided to start a conflict that would more or less be a major stepping stone in her goal to bring suffering to all men. She decided to start a conflict between the amazonians and other big names from the male side of Greek myth.  due to some unforeseen events her plans were partially foiled when one of the men decided to turn traitor and became the spouse of one of the higher powers in the amazonians. By looking at Circe's desire for wanton destruction and need to cause suffering to men as well as asserting her dominance over all she sees we can infer about Wonder Woman that she has a need to defend the world from threats, to allow people to continue their lives without a constant fear of being subjugated.

Brainiac the 12th level intellect.(#7)

Brainiac

The villain Brainiac is perhaps one, if not the, most notable superman villains of all time. Brainiac in almost every variation is a seen as a tall masculine humanoid android with green skin and various electrodes protruding from his bald head. Brainiac as with being an android is emotionless cold and calculating. Brainiac's main goal seems to simply be to collect and "digitize" data and physical objects.

Being as there are a couple versions of Brainiac we are going to focus on the bronze age version. Brainiac in the bronze age version was a "spy" create by the computer tyrants on a distant planet know as colu. He was then given the directive to search everything for any and all info he could gather. In an issue of superman it was revealed that Brainiac had taken a city known as Kandor from Krypton. This is one of a few reasons he comes to earth is to find superman. Brainiac has several powers most notably he can mimic most of superman's powers and interface with most computers. he has a 12th level intellect.

Star Sapphire- Green Lantern Villain.(#6)

The Villain Star Sapphire is one of the most notable villains in all of the versions of The Green Lantern comics. There have been a few people to take to role of the Star Sapphire. Most Notably Carol Ferris, Dela Pharon, Deborah Camelle Darnell, Jillian Pearlmen, Nol-Anj. For this post we are going to focus on Carol Ferris.
Being one of the first people to be Star Sapphire she is integral to the Characters of The Green Lanterns as well as the Star Sapphires. Carol is the only daughter of Aero tech tycoon Carl Ferris, and current CEO, who was the employer of Hal Jordan's father and partially responsible for his death.  Carol being Current CEO and long time friend of Hal Jordan hired him to be a test pilot. Carol eventually falls in love with Hal Jordan but Hal being a Lantern couldn't really be with Carol. Carol was, because of her love of Hal\ and her appearance, was chosen to be the next Star Sapphire by the Zamarons.
Once under the control of the Violet Crystal  was hypnotized into fighting Hal Jordan multiply times and became someone relatively  completely different from the Carol Ferris that Hal Jordan loved. Throughout the comics Carol gains control over her desires and the crystal multiple times and helps Hal Jordan. One of the most notable times she helped Jordan was when Jillian Pearlmen was taken over by the Crystal and Carol fought to defend Hal.
If the presence of the villain of Star Sapphire has proven anything about the Green Lanterns, specifically Hal Jordan, its that their worst enemy and greatest weakness seems to be both showing and not showing emotion. By not being with Carol it allowed her to succumb to the crystal but at the same time by allowing himself to feel something so strong for Carol makes her one of the most dangerous enemies because he will always be holding back and not wanting to fight her.

Understanding Mr.Freeze- Batman(#1)

Name- Victor Fries
Alias- Mr.Freeze

Mr. Freeze is perhaps one of Batman's most iconic villains. From being in 585 different comics and a few movies both animated and not. He is a character whose motives and personality seem to keep to a single version most often. For the sake of the blog I am going to talk about the modern age Mr.freeze. The most common origin theme for Dr.fries is that he was once a highly respected and gifted cryogenic scientist who, during a freak accident caused by mafia interference, become Mr.freeze while attempting to cure his terminally ill wife Nora Fries who dies as a result of the accident. After surviving his accident he was forced to wear a cryo suit. He then vows to dedicate the rest of his life to getting revenge for her death making him one of the only big Batman villains who isn't motivated by greed. Most of the time he appears in comics he is pulling a heist to collect funds for his revenge schemes against those responsible for his wife death. He most frequently works alone but on occasion has teamed up with others to reach his goal. During one of these team ups he joins the secret society of super villains. One of the members during his time with the SSSV is Nyssa Al-ghoul daughter of the Infamous Ras Al-ghoul and half sister to Talia Al-ghoul. He proposes a deal to Nyssa that in exchange for a cryo weapon she let him use the Lazarus pit on Nora. Before he revives Nora he is warned that the pools need time to adjust. Batgirl convinces Freeze that Nyssa won't help him and throws Nora into the pool. She then comes back as the Super Villainess know as Lazara and gains the power to conjure flames and raise the dead. Per usual she is mentally unstable after leaving the Lazarus pit and in her insanity blames and shuns Victor for everything and runs away. Mr.freeze was then left with the choice to let his Beloved Nora simply live now in anguish and never see her again or to fix what has happened and change Nora back to how she was. Mr Freeze is shown later in the comic taking down and refreezing Nora in hopes of changing things back to a time that was simpler than they had become. After doing so then continues on his mission to get every  one responsible for he original death.

Now to tie this into the past theme of class. Victor is motivated by the desire to avenge and possible bring back his wife. In doing so he is showing both guilt and the belief that he is responsible for getting revenge whether it is what she wanted it or not. When he revives her she is horrified, angry, confused and obviously mentally unhealthy and blames him for everything. When he takes the role of her avenger and tries to resurrect her he is showing a form of dominance and ownership over both her and her corpse. Which shows that women need a man to help, protect, avenge etc. even in death regardless of whatever their wishes were to begin with. This is a mildly harmful ideal to give comic readers.

Please give feedback negative or positive and yes I know it is late. I originally did one on killer Croc that wouldn't load properly so i created this one instead.

Introductions and welcoming.

Understanding Villains intro.

Hello and welcome any and everybody. My name is Zachery Couden and I will be your host during your readings. I like to believe I am a Clever and somewhat immoral person who is often misunderstood. It is this exact reason I chose to do my blog around villains because like me they can, from time to time, be misunderstood in their intentions and lives. As well as the fact that there can be no hero if there is no villains and so by talking about them we can get a glimpse into the hero's thought about why they fight the villain.

Throughout this blog I will give background and motivational info behind villains that most people tend to not know or even want to know. It will mainly center around the DC universe how ever I will do Marvel universe. I will try to be as accurate as possible so please don't be mad if i get something wrong. In the event I do get something wrong comment and let me know. I will try to go back and fix it. While on the subject any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

That is all I have to say at this moment. I will see most of my readers on Monday. See you all then.
