Understanding Mr.Freeze- Batman(#1)

Name- Victor Fries
Alias- Mr.Freeze

Mr. Freeze is perhaps one of Batman's most iconic villains. From being in 585 different comics and a few movies both animated and not. He is a character whose motives and personality seem to keep to a single version most often. For the sake of the blog I am going to talk about the modern age Mr.freeze. The most common origin theme for Dr.fries is that he was once a highly respected and gifted cryogenic scientist who, during a freak accident caused by mafia interference, become Mr.freeze while attempting to cure his terminally ill wife Nora Fries who dies as a result of the accident. After surviving his accident he was forced to wear a cryo suit. He then vows to dedicate the rest of his life to getting revenge for her death making him one of the only big Batman villains who isn't motivated by greed. Most of the time he appears in comics he is pulling a heist to collect funds for his revenge schemes against those responsible for his wife death. He most frequently works alone but on occasion has teamed up with others to reach his goal. During one of these team ups he joins the secret society of super villains. One of the members during his time with the SSSV is Nyssa Al-ghoul daughter of the Infamous Ras Al-ghoul and half sister to Talia Al-ghoul. He proposes a deal to Nyssa that in exchange for a cryo weapon she let him use the Lazarus pit on Nora. Before he revives Nora he is warned that the pools need time to adjust. Batgirl convinces Freeze that Nyssa won't help him and throws Nora into the pool. She then comes back as the Super Villainess know as Lazara and gains the power to conjure flames and raise the dead. Per usual she is mentally unstable after leaving the Lazarus pit and in her insanity blames and shuns Victor for everything and runs away. Mr.freeze was then left with the choice to let his Beloved Nora simply live now in anguish and never see her again or to fix what has happened and change Nora back to how she was. Mr Freeze is shown later in the comic taking down and refreezing Nora in hopes of changing things back to a time that was simpler than they had become. After doing so then continues on his mission to get every  one responsible for he original death.

Now to tie this into the past theme of class. Victor is motivated by the desire to avenge and possible bring back his wife. In doing so he is showing both guilt and the belief that he is responsible for getting revenge whether it is what she wanted it or not. When he revives her she is horrified, angry, confused and obviously mentally unhealthy and blames him for everything. When he takes the role of her avenger and tries to resurrect her he is showing a form of dominance and ownership over both her and her corpse. Which shows that women need a man to help, protect, avenge etc. even in death regardless of whatever their wishes were to begin with. This is a mildly harmful ideal to give comic readers.

Please give feedback negative or positive and yes I know it is late. I originally did one on killer Croc that wouldn't load properly so i created this one instead.
